The Dreaded Friday Afternoon Storms

It's just past 5 pm and we had a heavy rain producing thunderstorm roll through the homestead here in Upper Montgomery county.
The line of storms is heading SE and I'm afraid that we'll get some heavy rains on the fields this evening.

The first image was grabbed just before 5 PM, The second image was grabbed just before 6 PM and you can see that
our fields were being poured on. OUCH! The image below is the latest image from Live Doppler 9000 HD. Click on it to see more and larger versions.

Please get out extra early and see what you can do to work the fields. It's our last week before the playoffs and we don't have any make up dates.

June 28, Second Look

Hello sports fans, time for an update.

Not that much different than the first look. Still looking at hot weather with isolated storms on Thursday and Friday and more widespread storms on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend storms will be more likely in the afternoon and evening, so my biggest concern would be that pesky thunderstorm that could possibly dump some rain on Friday if it hits the wrong spot.

For Saturday, heat and humidity will be up and that could take a toll on the players (I would use athletes, but let's face it, not all players are athletes, take Hoder for example).

June 28, First Look

After a good day on Saturday, weather wise that is, we're in for some heat by the weekend and possibly some thunderstorms. The day we'll have to watch is Friday. I expect highs perhaps on the low 90s, but I also expect scattered thunderstorms.

This means radar watching on Friday and possible field work on Saturday morning. But hey, it's only Monday, so be patient.

June 21st Final Look

Other than a few storms around this afternoon, we'll be in good shape for tomorrow (unless one of those storms dumps on our fields). Saturday will be a warm and more humid day with highs into the mid 80s. We'll see mainly late day storms, so I'm expecting dry weather for us.

Again, watch the radar this afternoon and if any storms do fall on us this evening, get out early for field maintenance.

June 21st

Sorry that I haven't posted earlier, I've been enjoying this nice weather. Other than a stray shower one of these afternoons, we're really in good shape. Saturday will feature a tad more humidity than what we'll see on Thursday and Friday, and there could even be an afternoon or evening shower/storm, but for us, I'm expecting decent weather with game time temps mainly in the 70s to perhaps the low 80s. Now if we could just win a game......

Not as Hot for June 14th

This Saturday will be a lot cooler than last Saturday. We had a record tying 98 degrees on Saturday afternoon. For the 14th, I'm expecting highs to be in the mid 80s with a mix of sun and clouds. Also, unlike last week, we'll have a front approaching, so there is a slight chance of some shower activity. Usually, the late afternoon is the best time of day for storms, but it's only Monday, and that is just too far away to be too specific for Saturday.

One last thought, June 14th is FLAG DAY, one of my favorite holidays. You can read more about FLAG DAY by clicking here.
